Only a short time after several Yale students were killed in a horrible car accident, tragedy again struck for a Yale graduate.
JoAnne knew the young woman, Lyric Benson, who had only last year graduated. Her ex-boyfriend shot her in the face - see the article from the New York Times: Ex-Fiancé Shoots Actress, and Then Commits Suicide.
While I was reading this article again tonight, I looked for other articles on this terrible story. I stumbled across this NY Times write-up and another one, which regrettably indicated that Lyric had indeed died.
While reading through it, I realized that this woman had apparently rededicated her life to God, as indicated by the sentence "Benson broke off her relationship with Robert Ambrosino, 33, weeks ago after a religious reawakening prompted her to rethink their living together".
It is still very sad to think about this death, but I am comforted tonight because Psalm 116:15 says:
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
Looks like we will see Lyric again when we are gathered around the Throne of Grace - praise God!
Please pray for comfort, peace and courage for her family.
