Blogging from my parents' house today in Pohlheim, Germany (north of Frankfurt and near Giessen!
It is so wonderful to see them that I can't even begin to describe the feeling :-) *beam from ear to ear*! My parents are getting up there in age - my Dad will be 80 in April, and my Mom just turned 76. They are both still in great shape apart from the occasional pains and aches that come with age. I have been trying to share the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ with them for such a long time, but I still feel like that has not fallen on any kind of fertile soil in their souls, but I will continue to be faithful to my heavenly Father and pray for them and the rest of Nick's and my families. I did get to visit my old church, Freie Evangelische Gemeinde Giessen, here today and attend their worship service, which was wonderful also! I love the different style of worship they have (very German), but at the same time their message is as biblically solid as that of Calvary Fellowship Church in Downingtown, and they are all precious (but for me by now strangely German) brothers and sisters in Christ, whom I will get to meet more and worship our Lord with throughout eternity. One of these brothers is Dr. Helmut Schmitt, the obstetrician who helped me give birth to JoAnne through a caesarian section back in 1980 - he is an old man by now, but this morning he gave me a smile when I saw him as if he remembered me. I didn't get to talk to him, but it made my heart glow with memories and thankfulness for his service to my family. I can't wait to see his face in Heaven, when he realizes this baby he helped bring into the world is now a mature Christian young woman :-) Freie Evangelische Gemeinde in Giessen has two very young pastors (born in 1971 and 1972 respectively!!), but they speak God's truth with much love and fervor. Praise God that He is near even when I am not home. And I do miss my husband, children (and pets!) very much! In Christ, Elke
